John Psathas: Abhisheka (String Orchestra)
This work is published as a saddle-stitch full score for reference and study.
About the work:
Psathas’ orchestral arrangement of his iconic work for string quartet is now available as a study score. The original work has been performed across the globe, featured on award-winning recordings and choreographed. Abhisheka is meditative and reflective in contrast to Psathas’ other more vibrant music. It is exotic and full of intrigue by exploiting microtonal scales and expressive glissandi, influenced by Middle Eastern folk music. This is an essential study score for collectors of new music.
This version, for string orchestra, was arranged for the Auckland Chamber Orchestra as part of The Man From Olympus, a 'composer portrait' concert dedicated to the work of John Psathas.
