Still Sounds Lie by Farr Features in New Zealand Tour

Posted

Gareth Farr’s set of three songs Still Sounds Lie is to feature in a ten-date tour across New Zealand in September with soprano Pepe Becker and harpist Helen Webby. The programme titled ‘Love’s Nature’ includes a range of works from Medieval to contemporary with themes of telling tales of birth, death and lovers’ unions. The poetry in Farr’s work speaks of the beauty and mystery of the sea.

Becker and Webby first performed the complete work of Farr’s in 2005. Since then, they have recorded and released Still Sounds Lie on an album also titled ‘Love’s Nature’ with Ode Records in 2011. Becker founded the chamber choir Baroque Voices and continues to perform regularly as a soloist and as a member of Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir. Webby completed a Masters degree in harp and music teaching from the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg, Germany. Since 2000, Webby has been Principal Harpist with the Christchurch Symphony.
